As an association we aim to encourage international friendships and an understanding of the way of life in our twin towns. We do this through exchange visits by families, individuals, youth groups, sports teams and other interest groups, including work experiences exchanges.

Membership is open to all who are interested in creating new friendships. As members you and your family will have the opportunity of living with French, German and Spanish families and of showing them the British way of life when they come to stay with us in Chesham.

Many of our friends from the other towns are keen to practise their English and we, too, can practise our languages when we visit them.

Chesham Town Twinning Association is self-supporting. The cost of organising entertainment for our visitors comes from various fundraising events held by the association each year.

Although casual exchanges between families or individuals may be arranged from time to time through the association, the backbone of the programme consists of a number of weekend exchanges as follows:

Houilles/Friedrichsdorf/Chesham: An international weekend in spring and a cultural weekend in the autumn. The venue rotates between the three towns, meaning that over a three-year period there are two opportunities for going to France, two for going to Germany and two for receiving guests here.

Archena/Chesham: This twinning operates separately from Houilles and Friedrichsdorf, consisting of an international weekend each year which takes place alternately in Archena and Chesham.
